As promised, I’m back with the first blog post in my 3-part series entitled: 3 Powerful Mompreneur Truths that Lead to Weight Loss (+ Business Gains!)
So, let’s get this party started, shall we?
Have you ever noticed how a piece of advice in one area of your life can be applicable to another (very different) aspect of life?
It’s kind of like a BOGO deal (but for life…instead of shoes). 😉
I racked my freshly caffeinated brain for a few well-known pieces of wisdom that could be applied to all sorts of scenarios, from football to finances, and parenting to piano lessons.
I came up with a few oldies but goodies that I’m sure you’ll recognize:
I find it fascinating (and am relieved to know) that a guiding principle in one area of your life can ripple across other parts of your life. They’re what Tony Robbins calls “leverage points.”
By following these universal truths, you’re potentially killing dozens of birds with one stone (I wish there was a less yucky way to convey that point…poor birdies). 🙁
And this type of efficiency is invaluable in both business AND in health (did I mention motherhood, too?).
As I’ve become older and just the tiniest bit wiser, I’ve noticed that while in some areas of our life (e.g., birthing a new business), we embrace and apply these truths to achieve our goals, in other areas of our life (weight loss) we run for the hills.
The reason I think it’s important to deconstruct these three tiny – but powerful – truths is because sometimes we forget what we’re capable of.
I mean, if we can endure nine long months of pregnancy, raise a family, PLUS nurture a business on the side, certainly we can leverage some of that can-do spirit and commitment to shed unwanted pounds. #amen
So, just a loving reminder that you are absolutely capable (and worthy) of achieving your wildest dreams when it comes to your health (and your biz!).
Because if you can do it in one area of your life, you can certainly do it in another area of your life.
So, without further ado…here is the first universal truth that kind of makes mompreneurship and weight loss like twinsies.
And, no, I do not exclusively mean financial debt.
As a mama who is determined to reach her biz goals, you know you have to put in the upfront sacrifice before seeing the fruits of your labor (kind of like pregnancy, eh?).
While I’m by no means comparing the love we have for our babes to the love we have for our businesses, in both pregnancy and business we know up front that we will have to go into “debt” to give birth to a health baby and/or business.
Those costs could include time, money, physical sacrifices, or being on what seems like a never-ending emotional roller coaster. The sacrifices alone could make up an entire blog post, right?
And we’re okay these sacrifices. I’m not saying we don’t occasionally vent about them, but we don’t let them stop us. Why? Because we know that the cost of admission is worth the show (whether that takes 9 months or 9 years).
Now, what if we valued our own health with even half the heart we have for our babes or our businesses?
Frankly, I think we’d all be fitness models. Not because we want to be fitness models per se, but because a mother’s passion knows no bounds. And that can translate into an amazing transformation.
So, when you set out on your journey to reclaim your health, know that there will be a price to pay.
That doesn’t mean you have to be miserable, deprive yourself, or never get to eat cake again. But, just like giving birth to a baby or a business, changes in your body and mind will be necessary to experience transformation in your health.
When you apply the same passion and conviction that you have about protecting and raising happy, well-adjusted children (and chasing your dreams while doing it) to the desire you have to reclaim your health, you can move mountains. Truly, anything is possible for you.
Not only will you be showing up for yourself in a way that will amplify the way you do business, you’ll be modeling for your children and family what it looks like to live your best life.
Check out the second post in this series designed to help you re-shape your body and your biz. Spoiler alert: it’s all about that action, ‘bout that action, ‘bout that action. 😉
